Through our collaborative partnership with Altro, we have developed an IPS duct unit designed specifically to cater for the demanding requirements of the healthcare sector.

But maintaining optimum sanitisation can be complex, especially when dealing with furniture and surfaces that have grooves, rebates and joins. These elements of a washroom or cleaning area not only harbour bacteria, but can be tricky to clean effectively, impacting on cleaning times and the overall longevity of your washroom.
Many traditional IPS units have to be custom-built on-site, and internal carcasses are often made from materials that through time can weaken from ingress water, moisture and humidity. This, in turn, weakens the unit, but can also be a breeding ground for bacteria. Another common problem is that the joints on the exterior can prove difficult to keep clean and present similar hygiene and durability issues.
A turning point
In order to get ahead of this problem, we turned to a product that is tried and tested throughout the industry. Altro, a company with more than 100 years under their belt is renowned for Whiterock, a sheet material used for cladding in food and hygiene environments as well as clinical areas in hospitals and operating theatres.
Through our collaborative partnership with Altro, we took Whiterock and thermoformed the material around a carcass built from solid grade laminate. Solid grade laminate is completely impervious to water so will not weaken or swell from moisture, but this material has the added benefit of anti-microbial properties too.
By thermoforming the Whiterock, the exterior of the IPS unit has no joints or seams – areas prone to bacteria build-up. The units come custom built and can be installed quickly and efficiently for handwash stations, scrub ups, urinals, toilets and showers.

The unit will be pre-fitted with your choice of sanitary or brassware, meaning you spec the product before installation and benefit from high-grade hygiene options from manufacturers like Delabie and Franke. Routine maintenance can then be sought through carefully configured access panels.
