Merley Court Community Centre in Dorset is a vibrant local hub, hosting a range of events and activities throughout the year. Two years ago, Commercial Washrooms refurbished the female toilets, creating a bright, modern space that still looks fresh today.

Following that success, the centre asked us back to transform the male washroom. The BCP Council funded the project.

The aim was to replace outdated facilities with a durable, hygienic washroom that matched the specification of the ladies’. Robust finishes were chosen to withstand heavy daily use while keeping maintenance simple.

We were approached for our specialist approach to commercial toilet refurbishment services.

The refurbishment began with a full strip-out, followed by the installation of Altro Whiterock wall cladding and Altro safety flooring, which provided a watertight and easy-clean finish. A new suspended ceiling with LED lighting and PIR sensors brightened the space and improved efficiency.

Solid-grade laminate toilet cubicles and IPS ducting were fitted for durability, alongside upgraded sanitary ware. This included a back-to-wall toilet, three urinals with sensor-operated flushes, and a white solid surface wash trough with water-saving, non-concussive taps.

The space was completed with mirrors, soap dispensers, stainless steel toilet roll holders, a fast-dry hand dryer, and improved heating and ventilation.

The finished washroom now mirrors the ladies’ facilities, delivering a consistent, professional look throughout the centre. Bright, modern, and hard-wearing, the male washroom is designed to withstand high foot traffic while supporting sustainability through efficient taps, lighting, and hand drying.
