The Bristan Sirrus TMV3 Thermostatic Mixing Valve 15mm comes in three varieties, a regular basic 15mm valve, a 15mm TMV3 valve with isolation and a TMV3 thermal mixing valve with built-in isolation and 90-degree elbows.

RRP £131.00 (inc. VAT)

Pre-set to a temperature of 43 degrees Celsius with a maximum of 80 degrees Celsius input temperature on the hot inlet.

Our Bristan Sirrus thermostatic mixing valve 15mm has a safe pre-set temperature of 43 degrees Celsius and can reach a  maximum of 80 degrees. This helps to ensure that any users won’t scald themselves

Thermostatic mixing valves blend hot and cold water feeds to a single inlet tap, they blend this water and ensure the outlet water temperature never exceeds a set safe level in this case 43 degrees Celsius. This protects the users of the taps and water outlets from scalding. This is particularly important where the commercial washroom owner has a duty of care to the user, such as in an office, leisure centre, hotel, hospital, gym or school. Our Bristan Sirrus thermostatic mixing valve 15mm is especially essential for disabled washrooms and bathrooms used by the young or elderly as they may be unable to react as quickly to hot water which could injure them.

Variations:

  • MT503CP Bristan Sirrus 15mm TMV3 Thermostatic Mixing Valve
  • MT503CP-ISO Bristan Sirrus 15mm TMV3 Thermostatic Mixing Valve with Isolation on hot and cold inlets
  • MT503CP-ISOELB Bristan Sirrus15mm TMV3 Thermostatic Mixing Valve with Isolation and 90-degree elbows on the hot and cold inlets

15mm Thermostatic mixing valves such as the Bristan Sirrus MT503CP, MT503CP-ISO, MT503CP-ISOELB are for connection to 15mm commercial and domestic pipework and are typically the correct size for taps and faucets. Ideally, there will be one TMV3 thermal mixing valve installed per water outlet (tap or faucet), and they will be sited as close to the outlet as possible to reduce the potential for the growth of bacteria such as Legionella in the pipe run between the thermostatic mixing valve and outlet.

The TMV2 and TMV3 schemes are run by BuildCert and are an independent testing scheme that ensures national and international standards are met. (BS EN 1111 and 1287). When the mixing valve is approved under the scheme, it means high standards of thermostatic protection and suitability for use in the home (TMV2) and commercial applications (TMV3) have been met.

Thermostatic mixing valve 15mm FAQs

What is a thermostatic mixing valve?

A thermostatic mixing valve (also known as a TMV) is a valve that mixes hot and cold water together to create a temperature-controlled flow of water. This prevents users of taps, showers and other outlets for hot water from getting scalded.

Learn more about TMVs and how they work here.

How does a thermostatic mixing valve work?

The thermostat element of a thermostatic mixing valve expands and contracts in response to any changes in the water’s temperature and pressure. When this element expands and contracts, a slide valve moves in order to allow the right supply of hot and cold water to enter the valve.

How to adjust a thermostatic mixing valve

You can adjust the thermostatic mixing valve 15mm by removing the cap of the valve and either rotating the adjusting spindle clockwise to reduce the temperature or counterclockwise to increase the temperature. Adjust your TMV until you reach the desired temperature.

Do I need a thermostatic mixing valve?

By having a mixing valve such as the Bristan Sirrus thermostatic mixing valve 15mm in your commercial washroom, you can create a safer environment. Ensuring that your hot water supply and systems are fitted with a protective device such as a thermostatic mixing valve is essential to killing any harmful bacteria and preventing users from scalding themselves. It is particularly important to have a TMV in washrooms used by those with disabilities, the elderly and the young as they may not be able to react as fast should water scald from them.

Where to install a thermostatic mixing valve

Our 15mm Bristan Sirrus thermostatic mixing valve can be installed into a hot water heater or on a specific plumbing fixture (such as through a shower valve).

How to install a thermostatic mixing valve

It’s advised that you hire a plumbing professional to install a thermostatic mixing valve if you are inexperienced. This will ensure that the work is carried out correctly and safe for use.

  1. Turn off the water supply.

  2. Familiarise yourself with any instructions supplied to you with your TMV.

  3. Install the mixing valve.

  • You can usually install a TMV in any position but ensure that you refer to your manufacturer's instructions to be sure.

  • Connect the water supply pipes.

  • Solder connections to the valve before you fix it in place as this will prevent damage to any gaskets.

  • Attach the thermostatic mixing valve and use a wrench to tighten it into place.

  • Turn the water supply back on (cold water first) and test for any leaks.

  1. Adjust the temperature of your hot water - this can be done by opening a faucet and checking the temperature with a thermometer.
