Wet area lockers for commercial washrooms

It is important to specify the correct locker for the changing room environment concerned. Swimming pools and other particularly humid and moist changing room environments, such as saunas, require wet room lockers (which have a  metal locker carcass and other locker hardware which is purpose made to withstand these humid environments) .

The metal locker body in our wet area range is manufactured from a single aluminium sheet that is spot welded for maximum strength and longevity of life. The 10mm thick solid grade laminate (SGL) doors are available in a large variety of colours from Arpa laminates and suitable to match with cubicles, vanity units, and other changing room products. Our wet area lockers are also available in 13mm SGL from Polyrey & Formica.

We have a range of wet room lockers available in a choice of sizes, colours and with different lock types, including coin release locks, cam locks, and hasp and staple for use with a padlock. We even have wet room lockers with a bench which is ideal for changing rooms. For dry environments, you may want to use one of dry area locker nests or metal lockers instead.

Many common questions and general advice regarding our wet area lockers, benches, and other changing room equipment can be found by reading our blog. Of particular relevance are the Commercial Changing Rooms and Commercial Lockers information and questions. Browse our Washroom Case Studies where many of our lockers have been included.

We aim to cater for all tastes and budgets and are happy to provide a free, no-obligation quote based on your room dimensions. Optional changing room locker installation is also available.

Wet area lockers FAQs

What is the size of a locker?

Different models of lockers will have different dimensions, however, the average height of a standard locker (and many of our wet area lockers)  is approximately 1800mm high and 300m wide.

What are lockers made of?

Lockers can be found in a wide range of materials, including metal, plastic, wood and laminate depending on their purpose. For example, many school lockers are made from a robust steel but this material wouldn't be suitable for wet environments as it could eventually rust. Wet room lockers are therefore often made from solid grade laminate (SGL) or plastic as this is suitable for moist and damp locations.

How to keep gym lockers from smelling

In order to prevent a gym locker from smelling, you should ensure that the wet area lockers in your changing room facilities are cleaned daily. You can clean wet room lockers with antibacterial wipes or a spray and leave their doors open to enable better airflow so they can dry. It’s also important for locker users to clear their lockers at the end of the day when they no longer need it as food and sweaty sports clothing or damp towels can lead to the build up of odours. Finally, you should also ensure that your changing room is well ventilated to help with the room’s humidity. Why not take a look at our range of washroom ventilation products to keep your facilities smelling fresh?

How wide is a locker door?

The width of  a locker door can vary across different styles, however, the common width of a locker door is between 250mm to 600mm.

Why do lockers have vents?

Lockers such as our range of wet area lockers have vents to allow air to circulate through them, helping any damp or sweaty clothing to dry out and to prevent the build up of odours.
