Product codes:
A low-level toilet pan is a type of toilet with a ceramic cistern fitted at a low level (usually fixed to the wall with brackets) - a style inspired by the Victorian era. Low-level toilets feature exposed flush pipes that connect the cistern to the toilet pan; whilst they’re often mistaken for close-coupled toilets, their exposed flush pipes are what really differentiate the two.
Compared with high-level toilets, they have shorter flush pipes and a more modern appearance.
The type of toilet you opt for is entirely up to you. That said, there are a few things you can consider to help you make your decision:
Low-level toilet dimensions vary depending on who they are intended for. School toilets will, of course, be sized differently from standard toilets in order to accommodate younger users. The nursery school low-level toilet pan included in this pack is 305mm high, 300mm wide, and 430mm long.
Not sure whether this is the right toilet size for your washroom’s needs? These are the recommended toilet heights for schools based on guidance by the Department of Education:
| School year | Toilet pan height | Toilet cistern height |
| Early years | 305mm | 500mm |
| KS1 | 355mm | 550mm |
| KS2 | 355mm | 600mm |
| Primary | 355mm | 600mm |
| Secondary | 395mm | 800-1000mm |
Regarding the low-level toilet cistern, these usually sit at a minimum height of 900mm.
Make sure you have enough toilets in your school or nursery. You should have at least one toilet for every 10 pupils and one washbasin for each toilet. It’s also important to ensure you have an accessible toilet available for students with disabilities in your school or nursery, and to ensure equal access. Where there are four or more toilet cubicles, at least one of them should be a designated disabled toilet cubicle.
