This Doc M shower pack is for use by wheelchair users, ambulant disabled, walking impaired and infirm people, providing a comfortable shower area with hinged seat, lever-operated mixer shower, adjustable shower head, shower curtain and grab rails.
This disabled shower room pack also includes a thermostatic shower valve (TMV3 approved) to help prevent scalding. The shower valve and diverter are more suited to duct and service void installation. This disabled shower room pack aids independent living while keeping users safe and is suitable for commercial and domestic washroom environments, including schools, offices, care homes and healthcare settings.

What is a Doc M shower?
Firstly, “Doc M” is a shortened term for “Document M” which is part of building regulations in the UK. A Doc M shower pack is a package which includes washroom products designed specifically for disabled users or those with mobility issues so that bathrooms can be more accessible.
What is included in a Doc M shower pack?
What’s included in a Doc M shower pack can vary (i.e. a more expensive doc m shower pack may include more washroom accessories) but you can typically expect to find the following in a doc m shower pack:

Grab rails that give users extra support so they can balance themselves

A shower seat so that users can comfortably sit down when showering if they can’t stand

An alarm system in case a user needs assistance or has had an accident

Rails and shower curtains to give users privacy

Thermostatic mixing valves (TMV3 approved) which maintain a safe water temperature and prevent users from scalding themselves.
Where to put grab rails in a shower
The grab rails included in a Doc M shower pack help to support users, so it’s important to place them in an optimal position which is both accessible and practical. The recommended installation height for grab rails is between 33 and 36 inches above the ground. There should be a minimum of three grab bars in a disabled shower, positioned on the wall at the shower entrance (typically this is installed vertically), on the side wall (which is a long rail positioned horizontally) and by the shower controls. When placing grab rails in your shower, you should consider the users’ needs.
What should I consider before installing a Doc M shower room?
If you’re looking to install a disabled shower room in your building, you should consider the following:

How big is a disabled shower and what is the minimum size for a disabled shower room?
Doc M building regulations state the minimum dimensions for an accessible shower and changing room are 2200mm deep and 2000mm wide. The dimensions for a shower room which includes a toilet, basin and shower are 2500mm by 2400mm. It’s also recommended that shower trays are a minimum size of 1000mm by 1000mm.

What are the dimensions of a disabled shower room? In hospitals and sports centres disabled shower facilities should be designed to ensure that wheelchair users are able to approach, transfer to, and use the facilities. This may take the form of a self-contained room with combined shower and changing facilities. The following article sets out to explain more.
Small Items: Standard delivery is £10 + VAT per delivery. This one-off standard charge applies to all our products, except our cubicles, vanity units, wash troughs, IPS panelling range, and fragile items such as sanitaryware and mirrors.
Fragile Items: Pallet delivery starts from £40 + VAT with prices varying depending on delivery location. Fragile products include ceramic sanitary ware, Doc M Packs, and mirrors. Pallet shipments to Northern Scotland and Northern Ireland start from £100 + VAT.
Oversized Items: Delivery costs of bespoke cubicles, IPS panels, vanity units and other bulky products start at £105 and vary depending on the delivery location.

Delivery timescales
We operate a next-day delivery service on all stocked items, including pallet deliveries, to standard UK locations. Delivery timescales will vary for any items not in stock. Please get in touch if time is of the essence for an accurate lead time.
All bespoke products such as cubicles and vanity units are on extended lead times to allow for manufacturing time. This is typically 18-21 working days from drawing sign-off.

Product Returns
We are happy to accept returned items that are no longer required as long as they are in A1 condition and in their original unopened packaging. To arrange a return, please notify our after-sales team within five days of delivery.
If any goods are found to be damaged or faulty, we require email evidence and confirmation within two working days of receipt.
Any non-faulty Goods which are non-stock Goods, or which are bespoke, made-to-measure, personalised, customised, made to the Customer’s specification or specially ordered (Restricted Goods) may not be returned.
