Lockers for Commercial Washrooms and Changing Areas

Exploring the options for secure storage of personal items in Changing Rooms and Locker Rooms.

One of the more overlooked areas of a Commercial Wash Space, is the Lockers. It’s easy to add these as an afterthought, and you’d be forgiven for thinking Lockers are somewhat standardised. However, these days, there’s a wide array of options on offer, leaving you with several decisions to make on style, colour, finish and material. Here, we take a look at the key considerations when choosing Lockers for your site

Dry Changing Room Lockers

The type of Changing Room you are working with might determine the style of Locker you choose. In a dry environment, such as Cloakrooms, School Hallways and Changing Rooms where Lockers are far away from the Shower Area, there’s less of a concern of water damage. Materials used here are likely to be steel or Aluminium, which gives a robust, durable finish and in varying tier options from Full Height Lockers, to Six Tier Units.

Wet Changing Room Lockers

In a Wet Environment Such Swimming Pool Changing Rooms, or anywhere Showers are present, you will need to select Lockers made from materials that can stand up to Humid Environments.

Solid Grade Laminate (SGL) is a popular option as it is completely impervious to water so will never swell or weaken. Other options include a Toughened Plastic, but you will also want to make sure the Hardware of your Lockers, like the Locks, are also up to a specification that can be used in Wet Areas too.

Locker Colours

Whatever option you choose, you’ll find a range of colour and finish options available, allowing you to tie in the Lockers with your Building or Brands Colour Scheme.

Often we see School, Team, or a Brands Colours brought into the Locker Panels, which gives a much richer and more established finish. Steel and Aluminium Lockers have a number of paint colour choices, while SGL Panels (used for Locker doors) can be matched to a huge range of RAL colours.

Changing Room Locker Security

There are several types of Locks to choose from on our Lockers. You may opt for standard Cam Locks which require a Key, or Hasp Locks that require a Personal Padlock.

However there are also many Reprogrammable Combination Locks which are increasingly popular. You also might choose Locks that require a coin to operate, and can be used as a Coin-Return, or Coin-Retain option.

Lockers with USB Charging

In some instances, you might choose to include USB Charging Lockers. These units are usually used for individuals to charge their Phones, but the Shelf, Panel and Space can be selected so that a user can not only charge their Phone, but also safely store a Bag of Personal Items or Clothes.

Powered Lockers can be configured to offer a 240v Plug within it, a USB Charging Port, or one for a USB-C. You will find these offered in settings such as Universities, Colleges, Corporate Office Campuses, Warehouses and Travel Hubs.
