Leading Supplier of Commercial Taps for Washrooms

Commercial Taps are more robust and hard-wearing than those found in domestic bathrooms. They are designed for frequent use and often relied on to save water by automatically shutting off after a timed flow of water has been delivered, which also makes them cost-efficient .

Our washroom taps that can either be deck mounted onto a vanity unit, wash trough or basin, or wall-mounted above the sink. Whether you are searching for commercial taps that are suitable for schools, gyms, hospitals or offices, you can find the right style and design of tap that is safe and easy to use.

Narrow your selection by selecting the function and how the tap will operate. Non-concussive and sensor taps deliver a timed flow of water before shutting off and therefore help in water saving. On the other hand, lever taps give the user control over the water flow as they can turn the water on and off by pushing or pulling the lever.

Our specialist ranges include those for school toilets, HTM64 healthcare compliant as well as niche areas such as disabled toilets in need of DDA compliance.

We work closely with many leading brassware manufacturers, including Intatec, Dart Valley Systems, Franke, Delabie, Armitage Shanks, Twyford, and more. You can be sure of the highest quality available to the market from these leading washroom brands.

How many types of taps are there?

Here at Commercial Washrooms, we sell a wide range of taps to suit washrooms in commercial settings such as offices, schools, hospitals, gyms and leisure centres. The commercial taps we sell include:

  • Sensor taps

  • Non-concussive taps

  • Twist taps

  • Deck mounted taps or wall mounted taps

How to change a tap

How you change a washroom tap will depend on the type of commercial taps you have and whether they are deck-mounted or wall-mounted. Here are the basic steps involved in changing commercial taps:

  1. Turn off the water supply and drain out any remaining water in the system.

  2. Remove the existing taps, ensuring they are detached from the pipework - the tools required will vary across tap types, so it is best to refer to your installation guide for your taps.

  3. Install the new taps - again, this will vary for different models of taps, but this is typically done by passing the mains connection ends through the location hole and fitting any seals, washers, studs and gaskets. The taps will then be reconnected to the mains water supply.

If you are not comfortable with fitting commercial taps, it is best to hire a professional plumber who will ensure the taps are installed correctly.

What are deck mounted taps?

Deck-mounted taps are fitted directly to the sink or unit if the basin has a tap hole. Alternative commercial taps are wall-mounted taps, which, as the name suggests, are fixed to the wall above the basin.

How do lever taps work?

Lever washroom taps are very easy to operate. All you need to do is turn them either left or right (for hot or cold water).

How does a sensor tap work?

Sensor taps are touch-free washroom taps that release water once they detect the user’s hands. Essentially, sensors detect a motion or infrared light that automatically activates the water flow. When movement can no longer be detected, the flow of water will come to a stop until activated again.

What is a non concussive tap?

Non-concussive taps are also referred to as push-button taps, and they feature timed water flows. This makes them particularly useful commercial taps as they prevent unnecessary amounts of water from being used, which is both economical and cost-efficient.

What is a mixer tap?

Mixer taps have a system which combines hot and cold water together through pipes and distributes it through one tap. The benefits of mixer taps are:

  • They are versatile and can be used in different fixtures in the washroom (including sinks and baths).

  • They are safer as you can get the right temperature, which isn’t too hot or cold. For this reason, they are particularly useful for environments with young children, the elderly or people with disabilities.

  • They are more economical as they are usually fitted with a flow limiter (meaning the amount of water flowing out from the pipes will be more limited), which helps you to save money and use less water.
